Stuart Parker

Stuart Parker holds a PhD in History and Religious Studies from the University of Toronto and currently serves as an instructor in Liberal Studies at BCIT, International Studies and History at SFU and as president of Los Altos Institute, a small socialist BC think tank. 


Stuart is best known for his twenty-four years as an advocate for proportional representation in BC and Ontario and for his seven years as leader of the BC Green Party in the 1990s. He is currently a city council candidate for Proudly Surrey, a municipal party he founded in 2016 based on the writings of left urbanists Mariana Valverde and Ira Katznelson.
